a typical day as an actress involves.

January - Charlotte Salt holby.tv Interview Charlotte
Salt, who plays Dr Sam Nicholls in Casualty, has done a new interview
with the holby.tv website. In the interview she mentions that
Georgia and Ben were the life and soul of the show and that they came
down to the Cardiff set to do a bit of "ADR". According to wikipedia,
ADR is Additional Dialogue Recording. So some of Georgia's final
Casualty dialogue could well have been spoken in Wales! Update:
From a TV magazine interview (thanks to Mark C from holby.tv
forums), Charlotte on her blue boiler suit outfit; "All
I get to wear in 'Casualty' is a blue boiler suit. But at least it
means I can have a big lunch! Georgia Taylor (Ruth) told me to look at
it like I get to wear my PJs all day"

January - Happy New Year 2012!!
A very Happy New Year to Georgia and to all the visitors to the
site over the past year. Thanks for all the lovely comments I've received
about the site in the past 12 months and thanks to Georgia for being
so nice and making my year at the Comic Relief Jump the Sack!
It was very sad year with Georgia leaving Casualty after some of
her best ever acting performances, and it probably won't sink in until
the series resumes next week, but it will make 2012 an exciting time
to see what new project Georgia will do next. Personally I'd love to
see Georgia do some theatre.
Also good luck to Georgia for the upcoming announcement of the NTA
Best Female Drama Performance shortlist!

December - Ruth And Jay Survive!!! After avoiding any spoilers
all day after Sunetra's naughty white lie interview this morning I
didn't know if Ruth and Jay would survive - in fact I thought they
might both be goners and Georgia might die on screen for the first
time in her career. It was such a relief that they got their happy
ending - the traditional exit across Brunel's Clifton Suspension
Bridge! It was the best ending possible. It was also lovely
that Zoe mentioned Georgia's real name, Claire Jackson, in one of the
early scenes as a nice tribute to all the time Georgia has spent being
brilliant and working very hard on making Ruth such a special and all
time great Casualty character. And now she might even return one day!

November - Leanne and Claire Battersby? A
revelation to come out of Bruce Jones new autobiography, Les
Battersby And Me, was that Toyah Battersby was originally going to
be called Claire Battersby! That would have been confusing since
Georgia's real name is also Claire!
A couple of extracts from
Bruce's book; On the formation of the Battersbys; The
character of Toyah was originally going to be called Claire but I
guess they wanted a punk kind of name for her. I remember Georgia
being so worried that she wasn't going to get the part after her
audition and the rest of us were trying to reassure her that she had
nothing to worry about. She rang me the next day and she was so happy.
She'd had a call to say that she had landed the role. It was one of
those moments where 'I told you so' doesn't sound bad at all. The
Battersbys were good to go! On the abuse
the Battersby family initially received from the public; Jane
and Georgia coped with a lot at that time and I'm so glad that both
have gone on to achieve what they have. To play the type of characters
they did, get the abuse they received, and still come out of the other
side, as the lovely girls they always were at the start, isn't the
easier thing to do when you're playing in to millions of people's
homes every night as the horrible family.

October - Farewell Betty
:(
Betty Driver, who played Betty Turpin in Coronation Street for over
40 years, has sadly passed away this morning aged 91. It seemed like
Betty, who was still working behind the Rovers bar aged 90, would go
on forever. Toyah worked with Betty behind the bar for over a year and
on one memorable occasion they both went on strike to protest against
having to wear sexy staff outfits.
My
favourite scene between Toyah and Betty was just before Betty's
80th/retirement party when Betty had a heartfelt chat with Toyah. I've
uploaded the scene here.

August - New Poll Thanks for all who voted in the
previous poll. The majority of voters thought that Bristol in normal definition
will look better than Cardiff will in high definition. The full result
can be seen here. Casualty
series producer Oliver Kent wasn't wrong, when he said back in August

Ruth. Ruth discovered her new husband was gay and her marriage
collapsed, made enemies of her colleagues by sacking Charlie and
naming Zoe Dr Death, and ended up being sectioned after trying to
perform surgery in the On Call room, before Matthew Kelly and Charlie
made things right by the series end. But which was your favourite
episode from Series 25? The new poll is here.

July - No Ruth in 16th July Casualty :( Georgia continues
her recent run of intermittent appearances in Casualty as she
isn't on the official BBC Casualty website cast list
(spoilers) for the episode showing on 16th July, Pascal's Wager.
There are only 3 more episodes after this one in the series so there's
not much time left to learn to skydive (If it is Ruth in the preview

probably be Lucy's departure episode. The episode was filmed at Holby
International airport (in April at Cheltenham racecourse) so she could

April - A Day At The
Races?
There are several twitter messages relating to Casualty
filming scenes at Cheltenham racecourse this week and Georgia was also
spotted in Cheltenham a couple of weeks ago. Given that Casualty
films 3-4 months ahead could this be an end of series finale with a
more successful VIP trip to the races than the previous trip Ruth tried
to organise? The contrast in Ruth's popularity with the staff would
make a nice end to the series.

outside the Cafe whilst it was snowing!

March - BBC Casualty Cut Backs
Today's Guardian has quoted
from a National Audit Office report that the BBC has spent 20% per
cent less on their 6 TV Soaps in the past eight years. Interesting Casualty
details from the report
(pdf) are;
- The Casualty budget was reduced from 22.8m in
2009-10 to 21.8m in 2010-11.
- Casualty is the most expensive soap to produce at
over 9 pence per viewer per hour compared to the cheapest,
Eastenders, which costs less then 4 pence per viewer per hour.
- Casualty savings have been made by reducing the
number of regular cast from 18 in 2007-08 to 16 in 2009-2010 and
by reducing the number of stunts.
- 5.2 million pounds was budgeted for talent in
2010-11 which includes fees paid to regular cast members,
semi-regular cast members, extras and other cast-related costs
such as stunt artists, stunt arrangers and chaperones.

Germany in the summer of 2003.

March - Tonight's Casualty Georgia was amazing again in
tonight's Casualty. It was a heart warming scene in the Wendy House
with Charlie and Georgia looked stunning when trying on dresses in the
shop. That made a much better scene than a scene buying fridges would
have been. The Red Button episode was very good too in a Talking Heads
kind a way.

February - Georgia's Finest Performance Georgia was
absolutely remarkable in tonight's episode of Casualty. I think
it must be the finest performance of her career to date and all the
talent, effort and hard work she put in over the past months really
paid off in style. Georgia must be put up for a BAFTA this year
otherwise the awards have no meaning. Well done to Matthew Kelly who
was immense as well. I'll take some time do the captures this week
as Georgia was in every scene!

January - Plaudits To Georgia. Georgia has always been a brilliant
actress but she took things to a new level in tonight's Casualty
particularly during the final scene when she was led away by the
police. This scene was reminiscent of Denise Williams being led away
for questioning in Life On Mars but on a much more intense
scale and the past two episodes have been far removed from anything
she's ever done before. Hopefully a BAFTA for Best Actress could be a
real possibility this year.
|
| 18th
January - Ruth and Charlie In Red Button Episodes According to this week's TV Times magazine, Ruth and Charlie will be the subject of 2 special mental health episodes
of Casualty to be shown on the Red Button in March. Also there is a big interview with Georgia and Lucy Gaskell too but I can't scan this until the weekend as I'm not the country and
this explains why there is no video from last Saturday's episode yet :(

January - Last Night's Casualty Georgia's performance
was absolutely immense in last night's Casualty in some of the
most dramatic scenes she's ever done. The scene where Ruth was
explaining her efforts at improving the E.D. to Barry was brilliantly
acted and very moving. The flashbacks were really cleverly put
together with the merging of Ruth's notes with scenes from the
nightclub. There was a little continuity error where Ruth was wearing
shoes on the dance floor and then boots in the night club
corridor.
Update: 17/01. There wasn't a continuity error - It was another girl walking across the dance floor.

January - Georgia and Casualty Lose out in the NTA Shortlists :(
Unfortunately neither Georgia or Casualty made the shortlists for Drama
Performance and Drama National Television Awards announced
today. In late September and early October when the voting took place Georgia
wasn't involved in a big Casualty storyline so hopefully, when the
BAFTAs arrive later in the year, she'll get the recognition her recent
performances have deserved.

January - Tonight's Casualty
